When Print Costs are Scary
By Charles Carr
alloween is coming, this is a good time to think about scary things. My girls are
scared of bears, for my wife it’s spiders. I’m pretty sure George Bush is scared of not being re-elected. Everybody is scared
about something! As far as business operations are concerned, we are all scared of costs, and printing is something all of us
need to deal with.
Why be scared of your print costs? Did you know that studies have placed print costs to be 1–3% of most organizations total
revenue? What would it mean to your bottom line if you could reduce your print costs total by 1% of total revenue? To look at
it from another perspective, what if you kept your print costs steady, but improved print value by cutting employee wait times,
print quality, and support costs?

The “Real” Sirius Star
By Sirius Solutions Staff
Our newsletter has borrowed
its name from the brightest star in the sky. Most of us don’t keep up with the latest astronomy news, or for that matter astronomy
at all. We thought it would be a neat idea to shed some ‘light’ on this bright star. So, do you want to know something about
Sirius, commonly referred to as the “dog star”?

Miek’s Dime
By Miek Gall
This month’s Miek’s dime will concentrate on virus hoaxes and with Halloween upon us what better that a Halloween Virus Hoax.
Here is an example of a Halloween virus hoax:
A friend of mine recently received a file “Trickor1.exe”. When he opened the file, a Halloween cartoon greeting
appeared and asked “trick or treat”
→ go here for full hoax
There could be various subjects on the email title but an example is: Trick or Treat, you make the call. There usually isn’t any
content in the body of the email, but there could be. Pass this along to everyone you know!!!
Virus hoaxes are usually created by someone who wants to tie up an isp’s bandwidth but has no idea how to create an actual self
propagating virus and solely relies on the reader following the instruction in the letter. The most damaging virus hoax to date
may be the Sulfnbk.exe hoax where the reader
was advised to manually delete a critical windows 98 file, I actually know of a few network admins who did this and realized upon
restarting that oops windows wont boot? Have a happy all hallows eve.

Sirius Solutions Recommends:
Attack the Virus before the Virus attacks you. Buy Norton Anti-Virus from Sirius Solutions. Only $35
